Plvguehvmmer has released a new single titled ‘Two Lives’, creating the combination you never knew you needed- Edgar Allen Poe with death metal.
The track takes its lyrics from the work of Edgar Allen Poe, using his dark and gloomy tones to accentuate their brooding music. Using edgy, screeching guitar, the band creates a live, throbbing beast of a song. With skillfully executed roaring vocals and impressive shredding that flows seamlessly along with the scales, this is undoubtedly poetry as you’ve never heard it before. Rising through the banging death metal instrumentals, a melodic guitar riff interposes the rumbling vocals.
The band is reminiscent of groups including In Flames, As I Lay Dying and Unearth. However, they provide an innovative and distinctly modern take on beloved classics. Their new single is just one of three on the band’s wittily titled EP ‘Edgar Allen Wilde’, named for the poets whose writing makes up the lyrics on the track.
Plvguehvmmer is a duo made up of instrumentalist Niilo Smith, providing the foundation for Juan G.’s bellowing vocals. Niilo approached Juan, having seen him win the Enterprise Earth & Extreme Vocal Institute’s Foundation of Bones Vocal Cover Contest. Wesley Berger, featured in Rolling Stone India, moulds and shapes the tracks to the polished product that reaches the listeners.
Fans of death metal will be glad to hear that ‘Two Lives’ is available now on all major streaming platforms. Once you’ve recovered from the rollercoaster that the track will take you on, take a look at the links below to learn more about this gruesome twosome.
