Andrew Harvey, Steve Taylor and Philip Carr-Gomm are among the figures whose endorsements accompany Serge Beddington-Behrens’s forthcoming book. Their comments highlight its combination of spiritual reflection and active engagement with the world.
Scheduled for publication by Umbria Press in 2026, Regenerating an Unravelling World: The Sacred Challenges of the Warrior Activist explores the relationship between inner development and social change. Harvey is an author, Taylor a psychologist and author, and Carr-Gomm a former leader of the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids.
The book itself draws on several sources, including Arthurian stories, Japanese samurai traditions, Zen Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhist teachings. Beddington-Behrens interprets these influences through qualities such as courage, honour and self-discipline, developing a nonviolent conception of the spiritual warrior.
Across its 19 chapters, the discussion moves from personal qualities and relationships towards public action and a vision of social regeneration. The endorsements draw attention to that central pairing: reflection on the inner life alongside a commitment to participate in the wider world.
