Himmelskygge is a new digital release from LAWO Classics, scheduled for May 2026. The album has a total playing time of 62:14 and presents a programme devoted to Norwegian contemporary song and related vocal expression.
The performers include mezzo-soprano Hege Høisæter and pianist Jorunn Marie Bratlie, joined by Kari Telstad Sundet on electronics. The jazz ensemble Tov a Vot also appears on the recording, with Vetle Nærø playing piano and keys, Theis Jakob on bass, and Ola Grindbakken on drums.
The album’s repertoire includes music by Olav Anton Thommessen, Carl Gustav Sparre Olsen, Kari Telstad Sundet, Theis Jakob, and Gisle Kverndokk. The works range from Thommessen’s dramatic reimagining of Wagnerian material to Kverndokk’s Ave Verum, described as luminous in character.
Kari Telstad Sundet’s The Drift forms a central part of the release. With texts by Emily Dickinson and a blend of acoustic and electronic elements, the cycle helps define the album’s distinctive artistic profile.
